Word

“For you have set my heart free”—what beautiful words!  So often people think that God’s Word is a list of “don’t’s.”  But God’s Word is a river of life!  It is truth that sets our heart free, because it guides us to the One who loves us and has a plan and purpose for our lives.  It is not the dry, dusty pathway of heartless rules, but a path of life and truth and fulfillment and love.  It is the pathway of Christ.  “I run in the paths of your commands, for you have set me heart free.”  Let go of the chains of guilt and shame and failure and sorrow and be set free by the life and love of Christ.  Discover God’s promises for your life.  Trust God!  God loves you!

(scripture of the week)
I have chosen the way of truth;
I have set my heart on your laws.
I hold fast to your statutes, O Lord;
Do not let me be put to shame.
I run in the paths of your commands,
For you have set my heart free. (Psalm 119.30-32)

(Prayer of the week)
Almighty and Loving God, thank you for your great love and the way you forgive us and give us new life.   Strengthen and guide me with your Word.  Open my heart and mind to trust in your plan and purpose for my life.  Open my life to your power that touches and transforms life.  Renew within me a fresh appreciation and confident hope in your love and plan and purpose for my life.  Let your love burn within me that others may see you in all I do.   Amen.

Blessings in Christ! –Pastor TJ

I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by those who were inspired. I study the Bible daily—Sir Isaac Newton

Deep Roots

10/18/2018

Most of us have challenged ourselves to grow personally and spiritually over the this year.  Whatever the challenges and obstacles we have faced; and whatever the joys we have shared, most of us would like to look back and see personal growth in our lives over this year.  The secret?--Deep roots.  Deep roots come from regular worship and Bible reading, and taking time for prayer.  Come sunny skies or stormy nights, like a tree planted by the water we only grow stronger with time, when we nurture our life in God.   Listen to the psalmist:

(verse of the week)
Blessed is the person
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
But their delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on God's law they meditate day and night.
They are like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in due season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever they do prospers. (Psalms 1.1-4)

(Prayer of the week)
Loving Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of another new day.  Help me to grow deep roots that will help my life stand the storms of time and bear fruit that will last for eternity.    Renew and strengthen my faith that I have a firm hope and confidence in your love and power.  Help me to find strength in your Word and your Spirit.  Help me to work for things that last for eternity.  May I show your love to someone today.  Amen!

Open your heart to God's amazing love!-Pastor TJ

Song

The Lord is my strength and my song --what magnificent words from Isaiah.  It is not how able we are but how able God is.  God gives us the strength to persevere through difficulties.   But it does not stop there . . . God’s love also gives us the song that gives us joy in the darkest night.  Take a moment and re-discover and reconnect with God’s strength and God’s love.  You don’t have to do it alone.  God is there in strength and love.  Discover new strength and a new song in your heart.  God is our strength and our song. . .

(Verse of the week)
The Lord, my Lord is my salvation
  I will not be afraid
The Lord is my strength and my song
He has become my salvation -- Isaiah 12.2

(Prayer of the week)
Gracious God of love and mercy, thank you that in any storm there is stillness in your arms of love and hope surrounded by your power.  Strengthen me to face the challenges of life.  And may your love fill my life that I can be a beacon of hope in my life.  In everything I do
may others see your love and grace in me. Amen.

Have a blessed week—Pastor TJ

It is not how much you do, but how much love we put in the doing.  It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving --Mother Teresa
