Growth

Growth.  For most of us, it happens slowly, as we face the challenges and difficulties of life.  Challenges stretch us and strengthen us --personally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.  One of the most important keys to positive growth is simply deep roots--deep roots of faith.  Like a tree planted by the water, we can grow, until one day we become a towering tree of timeless faith.  Come sunny skies or stormy nights, if our roots are deep, we can only grow stronger with time.

(Verse of the week)
Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  But their delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditate on God's law day and night.  That person is like a
tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in due season and whose leaf does not wither.  Whatever they do prospers. (Psalm 1.1-4)

(Prayer of the week)
Almighty and Loving God, help me grow deep roots of faith and love that I may face the challenges and adversities of life with hope and peace, and be a light in your world.  Amen.

Blessings in Christ --Pastor TJ

Your Name

What wondrous news!-God, who created all that is, calls us by name.   There are times in our lives when we hear our name and our heart is warmed just by the sound of our name spoken by someone who loves and cares for us.  God knows us, loves us, and calls us by name. It is the personal call of the One who formed and fashioned us. It is the call of love and forgiveness.  It is the call of the One who has a plan and purpose for our lives.  Listen for a moment . . . and hear God's call.  Hear your name spoken lovingly by God.  Come to him for God loves you and calls you by name like a loving and forgiving parent.  God's promise comes to us, come what may, like a quiet, comforting whisper, "I will be with you!"  Trust God.  Listen for God's loving voice whisper your name . . .

(scripture of the week)
Fear not for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name; you are mine. . .I will be with you.  (Isaiah 43.1,2)

(Prayer of the week)
Almighty and Loving God, thank you for your great love and the way you know us and call us by name.   Open my heart and mind to trust in your plan and purpose for my life and your power to see me through.  Renew within me a fresh appreciation and confident hope in your love and plan and purpose for my life.  And may my life, radiant with your love, touch others today.  Amen.

Blessings -Pastor TJ

Justice

Monday we give pause to remember in a special way Martin Luther King, Jr., an extraordinary minister with a passion for justice and equality for all people.  His passion for peace and justice was fueled by his faith in Christ and commitment to Christ's work.  In one of his famous speeches he declared, "All that is necessary for evil to prevail is for ordinary people to do nothing."  How true.  What are you doing to work for peace and justice in your world?  As Christ-followers, we are not just here in this world to spread the word of salvation and wait for eternity, we are also here to work for eternal things in the present, like peace and justice in a needy and hurting world.  True love speaks a word of love, gives a hug to the lonely, or reaches out with an act of kindness. Take a moment and share your love and faith in a tangible way with someone in need.

(verse of the week)
What does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6.8)

(Prayer of the week)
Loving Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of another new day.  Open my heart and life to your plan and purpose for my life.   Renew and strengthen my faith that I have a firm hope and confidence in your love and power.   Help me to work for things that last for eternity.  May I show your love to someone today.  Amen!

Faith

Faith is one of the most powerful forces in the universe.  God wants us to have faith in Him and His love for us.  Great people such as Augustine and Luther were moved by the challenge in scripture "without faith it is impossible to please God."  Faith in God is life-changing.  Faith enables us to trust God.  Faith helps us see what we cannot see; and believe what we cannot touch.  Faith can move mountains, soften hearts, and reach for the sky.  Faith can make great dreams a reality. Faith makes life exciting and the impossible possible.  With God all things are possible.  Jesus declared, "If you have the faith of a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you" (Mt.17.20).  Are there mountains in your path?  Are there giants threatening you?  Do the challenges and adversities of the day make you feel small?  Look up to God.  Trust in God, and ask God to fill you with faith in Him.  Then trust God that it is not how able we are but how able God is that makes all the difference.  Then go ahead, share your faith.  Encourage someone feeling down.  Touch another with hope.  Pray for those in need.  Share God's love.  Reach out and make someone's day brighter.

(Verse of the week)
Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainly of what we do not see -Hebrews 11.1

(Prayer of the week)
Almighty and Loving God, touch my heart and fill my life with faith and trust in you and your love.  Take away the shadows of past failures and the guilt of missed opportunities, and breathe fresh life from your Spirit into my life; give me fresh dreams, and a new confidence in your plan and purpose for my life, and a new trust in your power to see me through. Amen.

Blessings in Christ!
